Yorkshire Scent Dogs brings together Louise Jessop (Dog Trainer) and Ruth Lewis (Scent Instructor and Coach) to solely focus on scent work. As dog owners ourselves, we found it difficult to find somewhere to train our dogs that was both challenging and fun when it came to scent work, so we are on a journey to create the right space. Our dogs love scent work and we are determined to continue with our learning and to then share this knowledge.

Our aim is to create and environment where you can teach your dog to recognise a specific scent (gun oil, clove, truffle oil, Kong or catnip,) watch them as they search small and large areas and train them to indicate when they have found the scent.

Scent work taps into your dog’s natural ability and preference to use their nose as they explore their environment and the world. Working their brains, their natural seeking system is stimulated, bringing about positive and pleasurable experiences. As they do so, they burn off energy and they exercise in a different way to walking miles and miles.
